The Free Flowing Waterless Urinal Valve has been developed by Sannitree International with a patent pending – no. 2010/08157

The valve is manufactured in SA and ISO certified.

No SABS standards exist at this stage for this product.

Each conventional flushing urinal will "waste" approximately 2 litres of potable water with each flush.
Our valves can be retro fitted into most existing urinals, or into new installations, with ease. Piping, Flushmasters and bottletraps are therefore not necessary for new installations. In existing units, the water can simply be turned off, the bottletrap removed and flexible or elbow piping installed, directly into the waste line.

The complete conversion kits consist of a PVC waste, with a backnut and washer and a Free Flowing valve which is firmly inserted from the top and held in place by two o-rings.

The valves consist of a silicone rubber curtain flap, which allows the urine to pass through, after which the back pressure in the pipe firmly closes the valve and prevents any foul odours escaping from the pipes. The designed curve of the valve and the valve body allow the flap to have a "memory " which ensures closure also assisted by pressure in the waste main stack .

A dome is fitted over the valve, for aesthetic purposes. The dome is included in the conversion kit but may be left off if not desired. The valves are expected to last for 6 – 12 months before needing to be replaced. However, this period could be longer, depending on usage of the urinal and correct cleaning methods. A symptom of a valve failure would be the onset of an odour – in which case the valve should be removed with a long-nosed pliers and checked for damage or deterioration.
