Ikhaya Futurehouse (IFHS) was established in 2006 after extensive research into alternative building systems available worldwide.

The company started by getting the necessary building system approvals from; SABS/Agrément Board of South Africa and the NHBRC and built showcase units to exhibit the system to potential clients.

A network of IFHS accredited builders and agents are in place and being extended as demand for the company's products grow. IFHS is supported by a group of people with extensive experience and knowledge in alternative building systems. Our team has all the skills to manage a business of this nature. The company's aim is to offer the African construction market a fully integrated package of environmentally friendly and energy efficient building systems and support these with:

IFHS are licensed to the Schnell Group in Italy who have close to 50 years experience manufacturing and marketing this building system worldwide.

Sustainable Story

The Futurehouse systems allow buildings to be fully thermally insulated providing improved building comfort and reduced costs associated with heating and cooling.

These systems are easy to build with requiring relatively low levels of skill and therefore rapid job creation in the construction market. The Futurehouse walling system in particular lends itself to the DIY market.

As the panels are linked to floor slabs/foundations, tied together and plastered externally a monolithic structure is created reducing structural cracks and the associated maintenance. The product was developed and is suitable for seismically unstable regions.
